Shot Notes
Don’t worry, javga is not getting violent on you all of the sudden. But, many fishermen would like to kill all of them… You can guess why; the Great Cormorant likes to eat fish, lots of fish… That’s why in the past, this bird got hunted so intense, it almost disappeared from our skies and waters…
These days the Great Cormorant is a protected animal in several countries. Many professional fishermen are not happy with this law because their population is growing. These days, the Great Cormorant a serious competitor for fishermen in order of catching fish. Fishermen even claim the Great Cormorant is (partly) responsible for the disappearance of several species of fish. Their request for a law change in order to (legally) shoot these birds is getting louder and louder… Are they right? hmm… probably the truth is somewhere in the middle here.. I can imagine their frustration though, it’s their income we are talking about here, and like many other people, I also enjoy eating fish once in a while…

* I don’t know where you were when you captured this, but you look like you were in the water. I feel like I’m in the water, which btw is very choppy. The birds really add an ominous feeling to these choppy waters. I’m always amazed by your photos.

* I’m sure you must have an organic front element to your lenses . . the images cry out ‘Nature’ so often.
