Shot Notes

“I cannot tell you how happy I am that I have taken up drawing again. I had been thinking about it for a long time, but always considered it impossible and beyond my abilities.”

[1880 - Vincent Van Gogh]

Although Van Gogh is mainly famous because of his great painting skills, he is considered a master draftsman as well. One of the materials he liked to use was reed. Drawing with a reed pen and ink, he was able to save money. Vincent Van Gogh wanted to have sufficient canvas and paint in stock when his friend Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) came to Arles. Vincent Van Gogh created his reed pens by him self. His drawings are quite rarely on show, because they are very easily damaged.
