Shot Notes

Last weekend I was experimenting with my new portable photo studio. A great gadget designed to photograph small objects. Basically it is a foldable box equipped with two powerful lamps on tripods, a tripod for my DSLR and some differently colored cloths. With these cloths you can create for example a black, red, blue or white surrounding. For the race cars I went for a white setting. To create a good exposure for the cars I positioned the two lamps around the portable photo studio until I liked the result. The self-timer triggered the shutter of my Canon. With Photoshop I did some final retouching to get rid of every annoying detail and to create a larger white surrounding. It was pretty cool to work this way, soon I will set it up again. Now I’m off to do some racin’ in the street:

Some guys they just give up living
And start dying little by little, piece by piece,
Some guys come home from work and wash up,
And go racin’ in the street.

Excellent! I like the very shallow dof. You’ve given me incentive to build the light box I’ve been going to make for a long time.
